Detailed Syllabus

Module 9 – Hotel Business Valuation

This module is led by Steve Rushmore

Steve is a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School and the Founder of HVS - a leading global hotel consulting firm. He has authored seven textbooks and over three hundred articles on various hotel valuation and investing topics. 

  • The difference between developing a market analysis and a hotel valuation
  • Building an approach based on an analysis of hotel activity
  • How to forecast demand growth rates and project hotel room night demand 
  • Evaluating the potential of future competitive hotel supply
  • Forecasting the competitive positioning of the investment

Module 10 – Repositioning Project

  • Understand the requirements to develop an investment plan
  • Analyses competitors and market segments
  • Understand the economy of an investment project
  • Review and identify the value of a repositioning proposal

Module 11 – Sustainability

  • What is ESG all about? Why should we care?
  • Why is it such a hot topic in business?
  • How does it specifically affect hospitality?
  • Who (or what) is driving the agenda?
  • Where does Net Zero fit in?
  • Is it possible to be profitable and sustainable?

Module 12 – Investment Proposals

  • Appreciate the structure and process of strategy
  • Use a range of strategic analytical tools and strategic concepts
  • Comprehend how options are generated and evaluated
  • Contributing effectively to the strategic planning process in the business
  • Developing investment plans, presenting reports and presentation formats
